How cheats worked in past GTAs

This is GTA 5, the most recent game. Whether GTA 6 works the same way is Unknown.

  • Button combos: on PlayStation and Xbox you entered a sequence of buttons during play Reported [1].
  • Phone numbers: on every platform you could pull up the in-game phone with Up on the D-pad and dial a cheat number. The numbers spell out the PC codes Reported [1] [2].
  • PC console: on PC you opened a cheat console with the ~ (tilde) key and typed the code Reported [1].
  • The catch: turning a cheat on disabled achievements for that session and capped mission medals at bronze, even if you turned it off again. NME advises saving before you use any Reported [1] [2].

How we'll verify GTA 6 cheats

  • We only list a cheat after entering it in-game on PS5 and on Xbox Series X|S.
  • Each cheat shows its effect, its inputs on both platforms, and the date we checked it.
  • If Rockstar documents cheats officially, we'll link the source.
  • We never link to cheat engines, mod menus or hacking tools. Those break Rockstar's terms and are often scams.

FAQ

Are there GTA 6 cheats?

None are verified. GTA 6 isn't out until 19 November 2026, and Rockstar hasn't said whether it has cheat codes. Any GTA 6 cheat list online right now is made up.

Do GTA 5 cheats work in GTA 6?

Unknown. Rockstar hasn't said whether GTA 6 has cheats at all, so there's no reason to expect GTA 5's combos to carry over. The GTA 5 list on this page is clearly labelled as GTA 5 only.

How did cheats work in GTA 5?

You entered a button combo during play, or dialled a number on the in-game phone. On PC you could also type a code into the console. Turning one on disabled achievements for that session, as reported by Polygon and NME.

Do cheats disable trophies or achievements in GTA 6?

Unknown. Rockstar hasn't said. In GTA 5 they did, and they also capped mission medals at bronze.
