Trailer 1 released

Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI with Trailer 1 on 5 December 2023, confirming the state of Leonida and Vice City, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a 2025 window that later slipped twice. A copy leaked the night before, so Rockstar released it early. Confirmed

What Rockstar announced

The Newswire post was short: the setting, the state of Leonida and its city Vice City, the platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a release window of 2025. It was the first official look at the game.

“Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

Rockstar Games, Newswire, 5 December 2023

The early release

The trailer was due to premiere on Tuesday 5 December 2023. Video Games Chronicle reported that on Monday 4 December an anonymous X account uploaded a low-res, heavily watermarked copy. The account was quickly banned, and Rockstar put the official trailer out early. We don't link the leaked copy. The details are on our leaks page, labelled as a leak.

What it confirmed

Before this trailer, the setting was reported but not official. In July 2022 Bloomberg reported a fictionalised Miami and a female lead. Trailer 1's post made Vice City and Leonida official. Rockstar's GTA VI site now introduces Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos as the two leads, and our leaks page tracks how the Bloomberg report held up.

What changed since

The 2025 window didn't hold. On 2 May 2025 Rockstar moved the game to 26 May 2026, and on 6 November 2025 to Thursday 19 November 2026, which is still the date. Platforms are unchanged and PC hasn't been announced. Trailer 2 followed on 6 May 2025, An Extended Look on 27 August 2026 and the Launch Trailer on 15 October 2026.

What's next

Pre-load opens on 12 November 2026 and the game unlocks at midnight local time in each region from 18 November (UTC). Every trailer is on our trailers page. Places fans spotted in the footage are on our map, each labelled with its source.
