What Rockstar released
The Newswire post, subtitled "Explore Vice City and beyond", opens with "Vice City, USA." It names the two leads, Jason and Lucia. When an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida, forced to rely on each other to get out alive. It pointed fans to rockstargames.com/VI and to wishlist the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them.”
What changed
Trailer 1's post in December 2023 named only the setting, the platforms and a 2025 window. Trailer 2's post, 518 days later, is the first of the two to name Jason and Lucia and set out the premise. Rockstar's official site sets out the characters and places, and our character pages use only what Rockstar and reputable outlets have said.
Timing
It came on 6 May 2025, four days after Rockstar's 2 May letter moving the game from 2025 to 26 May 2026. Rockstar later moved launch again, to 19 November 2026.
Why it still matters
The same story text appears word for word in the Launch Trailer post of 15 October 2026, so Trailer 2's premise is still Rockstar's official pitch for the game. Vehicles and places that outlets spotted in this trailer are on our database and map pages, each with its source. We list trailer timestamps only where a linked outlet documented them.
What's next
After Trailer 2 came An Extended Look (27 August 2026) and the Launch Trailer (15 October 2026). The game launches on 19 November 2026.
