What the extra US$20 gets you
The PlayStation Store and Xbox Store upgrade listings describe the same bundle: "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story". Confirmed [1] [2] Polygon reported that Rockstar said the items aren't a flood of unlocks at the start, with "new items uncovered behind each chapter". Reported [1]
- Vehicles: the '95 Grotti Cheetah (which the PS Store says arrives "to punctuate later-stage action"), Jason's Dinka Enduro motorcycle or Crest kayak, the Ganado Retro Build mod kit, the Shitzu Squalo boat at Washington Beach, the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, and the Classic Car Collection commission from the collector Wyman.
- Weapons: the Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, plus engraved versions of Jason's Girardi ES9 and Lucia's Klose K17 pistols.
- Looks: Vice City Style outfits and tattoos, and the Goodtime Gear collection inspired by Macca the Gator.
- Activity: raiding the PTT Youngin$ compound for special items and contraband.
- Five businesses listed as "Only Open for Business with the Ultimate Edition": Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo (over 50 FAILE tattoos) and One-Eyed Willie's mod shop at Lake Leonida.

Is it worth it? Our take
Buy Ultimate if you know you'll spend a lot of time customising cars and characters. Two of the five Ultimate-only businesses are mod shops and three are style shops (salon, streetwear and tattoos), and the Paradise Garage adds a weapon locker and a place to stash stolen goods for fencing. [1]
Stick with Standard if you mainly care about the story. Both editions contain the same game, and both get the pre-order bonus. Rockstar hasn't said whether any Ultimate item makes in-game money, so we don't count that as a reason to upgrade. Unknown
Not sure? Buy Standard and decide later. The Xbox Store already sells the Ultimate Edition Upgrade in the US for US$20.00, the same as the price gap between the editions. It "requires a game (sold separately)". Confirmed [1] The PS Store lists the upgrade but showed no price when we checked. One catch on PlayStation: the GTA+ offer "can only be redeemed once per account, regardless of additional purchases", so buying the upgrade doesn't give you a second month. Confirmed [1]
