What Rockstar announced
The Newswire post set a two-stage release. Netflix got the premiere at 3pm Eastern on 27 August. Six hours later, at 9pm Eastern, the video went up on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site. In Melbourne that's 5am and 11am AEST on Friday 28 August.
The post repeated the launch date, 19 November on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and pointed to pre-orders on the official site.
“Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET and will also launch on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site at 9 p.m. ET on August 27.”
Why it was different
Rockstar had released Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 on its own channels. Putting a video on Netflix first was new for GTA 6. The post itself didn't say how long the video would be or what it would show.
What happened next
An Extended Look went out as planned on 27 August 2026, and Rockstar posted it on the Newswire as now playing. It's a longer look captured from PS5 gameplay, and it's on our trailers page with every other official video. The same day, Screen Rant reported official map-size ratios that Rockstar gave content creators at hands-off previews.
