The numbers
Trailer 2 came out without warning on Tuesday 6 May 2025. Rockstar's 475 million figure counts every platform the trailer was posted on, not just YouTube. VGC noted that, when it published, the YouTube upload alone had about 84 million views.
VGC compared it with Hollywood: The Hollywood Reporter said the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer debuted to 365 million views in 24 hours. VGC also gave 93 million first-day views for Trailer 1, which was a YouTube-only release.

Why the figures aren't comparable
Trailer 1's record was certified by Guinness for YouTube alone. Trailer 2's number is Rockstar's own count across all platforms. Both are real, but they measure different things, so we label this one Reported: it's Rockstar's claim, carried by VGC, not an independent measurement.
What else Trailer 2 brought
VGC said Rockstar also confirmed the trailer was captured on PS5 hardware and was "comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes". The trailer introduced Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and Rockstar updated the official site with biographies of both leads and others in the cast.
