GTA 6 has no crossplay at launch, because there is no multiplayer mode to connect. PlayStation and Xbox both describe it as a single-player experience on 19 November 2026. Whether a later GTA 6 Online supports crossplay, cross-saves or cross-progression is not announced.

What launch actually is
PlayStation's GTA 6 page calls it a single-player experience and lists 1 player, with offline play enabled. Confirmed [1] The Xbox Store also calls it single player. Confirmed [1] Australian retailers repeat the same line: JB Hi-Fi and EB Games both say "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience." Confirmed [1] [2] [3]
Searches for "gta 6 crossplay", "is it cross platform" and "will it be crossplay" are really two questions. At launch, there is nothing to cross-play: you cannot drop into another person's session on the other console, because the shipped game is single-player. After launch, a future online mode might add that — or might not. Rockstar has not named that mode, dated it, or mentioned crossplay. Unknown
What people mix up with crossplay
- Switching between Jason and Lucia is single-player character swapping when the story allows, described in Edge. It is not a second human player on another console. Reported [1] See GTA 6 two player.
- GTA Online (the GTA 5 mode) keeps getting support after GTA 6 launches, per Take-Two, but that is not GTA 6's own online. Reported Details are on online at launch and GTA 6 Online.
- Share Play or console streaming is a platform feature, not a Rockstar crossplay announcement. We have not seen Rockstar promise it for GTA 6.
