Rockstar has not published an official frame rate for GTA 6. What we have is a reported comment: Rob Nelson told a preview visitor the game was running at 30 FPS on consoles "for now", and that he would need to consult the technical team about 60 FPS at launch or later.

What has been reported
Tom's Hardware reported on 29 August 2026 that YouTuber Davy Jones, invited to a Rockstar North gameplay showing, asked about performance modes after watching the game run. Head of development Rob Nelson said it was running at 30 FPS for now, and that he would need to "consult the technical team" about whether there would be 60 FPS at launch "or later". Reported [1]
That is a second-hand report of a podcast remark, not a Rockstar Newswire post or a store spec. It also leaves the door open: Nelson did not rule 60 FPS out, and he did not promise it. Treat headlines that say the game "will be locked to 30 FPS" as firmer than what Nelson is quoted as saying.
The same Tom's Hardware piece says Digital Foundry judged the August gameplay footage, captured on a base PS5, to be upscaled to 4K from 1440p, and discussed motion blur in the chase scenes. That is analysis of footage, not a stated target. Reported [1] Resolution on Xbox Series S, Series X and PS5 Pro remains Unknown.
30 FPS or 60 FPS — how to read the searches
Queries such as "gta 6 30 fps", "gta 6 60fps", "gta 6 30 or 60 fps" and "gta 6 30 fps on ps5 pro" all run into the same gap: there is still no official number. A later patch is also Unknown. Rockstar has not published a day-one patch size or a post-launch performance update plan.
A PC version, if one arrives, would be a separate product. There is no PC release date; see GTA 6 PC release date.
We will update this page if Rockstar, Sony or Microsoft post frame-rate or mode details. Until then, the honest answer is: 30 FPS has been reported from a preview conversation; 60 FPS and a performance mode have not been confirmed.
